Norwich City's promising young defender Michael Spillane is expected to feature in the second match of the Republic of Ireland's European Under-17 Championship campaign in Dublin tonight.

The Irish take on Israel having opened with a 4-0 demolition of Romania at the capital's Dalymount Park on Monday evening.

Spillane, a 17-year-old Academy scholar at Norwich who made his senior debut as an 87th-minutre sub in the FA Cup defeat to West Ham in January, played the full 90 minutes for the Irish, whose goals all came in the second half.

Serbia & Montenegro are the fourth team involved in round-robin tournament in Dublin, the winners of which qualify for the finals in Luxembourg in May. The Irish complete their campaign against Serbia & Montenegro on Friday evening at Tolka Park.

Spillane has been in good form for his country, having scored a winning goal against the hosts in the recent Algarve Cup in Portugal in which the Irish finished runners-up to France.
