As we head to Old Trafford, it takes me back to our previous visit just before Christmas, 2015 and that famous toe-poke by one Alexander Tettey – and me participating in a stupid bet I had made earlier in the day.
On the morning of the game, I read a tweet from fellow Canary @PhilGray12. He said he had a good feeling we would win at Old Trafford.
Even though I'm the most optimistic of Canaries fans, I was not as confident of a win. So, I replied with a tweet saying, 'If we win, I'll run around Carrow Road on Christmas Day in a mankini'.
Phil loved this - he took a screenshot of the tweet and replied saying that I might regret saying what I'd said as we were going to win. How I laughed.
A few hours and two goals - one each from Cameron Jerome and Alex Tettey - later, I was trying to get out of what I had said earlier in the day. Oddly enough, Phil was very keen to make sure that everybody knew about it.
The more people heard about it, the more I tried to get out of it. People were saying I had to keep my side of my bet. I tried to say I didn't have a mankini ... and then people began offering me use of theirs.
I admitted defeat and accepted I had to keep my side of the bet.
But instead of the mankini, I suggested to my wife Hayleigh that I could run around Carrow Road in a pair of Christmas pants. After she stopped laughing, she agreed. So, as midnight struck Christmas, we headed to Carrow Road, with Hayleigh videoing the event.
Luckily it was very quiet as I ran the whole way around the ground. I only saw two young ladies outside the Holiday Inn who probably wondering what they were witnessing.
I sent the video out to prove I completed my side of bargain. Despite how silly I looked, it was worth it to win at Old Trafford.
Can we win this weekend? Why not? Throughout this season, we have come unstuck far too many times and most of them have been unjust, especially last month when we deserved more than the three points we got.
So maybe we'll get our rewards at Old Trafford for all the performances we have shown this season. We have continued to play with a lot of confidence and with some of the most superb, slick football I have ever seen in my time watching Norwich, and that includes football under Dave Stringer and Mike Walker.
You would've thought with us constantly falling short of getting our rewards, the confidence wouldn't be there, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I'm sure one man who'll be very confident is the Irish Lukaku, Adam Idah, after his superb hat-trick at Preston North End last weekend.
I may not watch the U23 as much as I used to, but the few games when I have watched Idah, I knew we had something special. I have not said too much about Idah - in the past I have spoken about some of our youth players going on to have great careers, only to end up leaving the professional game very early and playing non league football.
You know Daniel Farke, Stuart Webber and Co are going to do their best to give us another exciting young star in Idah, something I'm really excited about.
Manchester United might be a so-called bigger club than us and be in a higher position than us, but our club is lot more settled.
Will I be saying anything negative before the game by making another silly bet? Maybe not. But if it guarantees three points, I might just do that, I'm sure everybody will have forgotten by next Christmas.
