Spud Thornhill: I’m greedy... but I’m not asking much from Norwich City, am I?

At the start of the season, I, like many other Norwich fans, was very confident and had belief in the team for the season. But some supporters - and I hope it is only a few - are showing giving up the fight, on the evidence of what some have said to me or from what I've seen on social media. That is something we must not do.

At the moment I am sure there are many fans who feel flat, which is then feeding into the stands, which then feeds onto the pitch, so it's no wonder players like Onel Hernandez were talking in their post-match interviews last week about the lack of atmosphere.

It was one of a few disappointing things last weekend. I've heard chat about some fans singing in the concourse before kick-off and then going quiet when they go in the stands - something that has always been a pet hate of mine, especially when we are playing away from home.

So maybe if you're at The Amex on Saturday afternoon and enjoying their bar facilities, save some of your voice for during the game.

The biggest disappointment last Sunday was the lack of bite at times, especially in midfield. Despite Alex Tettey's excellent work rate, Mo Leitner was way off the pace leaving Tettey with too much to do, leaving Scott McTominay to control midfield for United, which was disappointing, especially when I honestly believed Leitner would take to the Premier League like a duck to water. Maybe I need to be more patient with him, just as we were after he arrived at Norwich.

Our play in the middle of the park is becoming more of a problem than our defence. Hopefully, with another week back in training, Tom Trybull will be ready to come back. Trybull could provide the aggressive hunger that we have been lacking. If he does start at Brighton he could play a massive part in building on from our previous away day at Bournemouth where we got a point. We just need to start scoring goals. Including Crawley in the EFL Cup, we have not scored away from home since Liverpool - that's 486 minutes.

Talking of stats, one that I'm always talking about - and even more after the United game - concerns away penalties. Whilst United were awarded two spot-kicks (away from home) and their third away penalty in the Premier League this season already, we have not had an away penalty in the Premier League since September 1994 - 119 games ago. The next team following us for not receiving an away penalty is Newcastle United, 23 games ago, and eight teams in the Premier League have already had away penalties. Overall we have had just seven penalties in the four Premier League seasons, plus this season since 2011 - 150 games. Some people may say it's the lack of attacking football over those years, but I honestly feel there is a lot more to it than that.

I don't normally moan about things like this, but both United's penalties came via VAR, and the first one was very questionable. I am pretty sure if roles were reversed we wouldn't be getting a soft penalty like the one they got.

I'm not going to rant about VAR, because I don't have enough paper to tell you exactly what I think. The first penalty was shocking. I thought VAR was going to be used to prevent mistakes happening. That decision was made as an opinion by a man who is 150 miles away.

Let's stick to matter of fact not opinion.

So I'm a greedy man then! I want a better atmosphere, with more positivity, fans singing in the stands, Tom Trybull back in the squad, away goals, away penalties, a win and no VAR incidents. Am I asking for too much?
