Ridgeons Premier club Dereham is the latest stop on Norwich City's Championship pre-season build-up tonight at Aldiss Park (7.30pm).

Canaries' first team coach Paul Stephenson will take charge of a Norwich XI expected to feature fringe first team squad players along with young professionals and academy prospects at their near neighbours.

Glenn Roeder's latest signings David Bell and Arturo Lupoli are unlikely to be involved ahead of Monday's Carrow Road friendly against Carling Cup winners Tottenham.

Dereham boss Matty Henman will blood new signings John Higgs (goalkeeper), Adam Smith (midfield), Dean Miller (centre-half), Paul Cousins (centre-half), Andrew Wood (striker) and Ben Furlong (left-back).

Magpies' chairman Simon Barnes is confident of a big turnout to watch some of City's brightest prospects who have already impressed in the club's opening pre-season win at Gorleston.

"We are pleased to once again be welcoming Norwich City to Aldiss Park," he said.

"In the past we have had some excellent fixtures with crowds of 3,000 plus on the last two occasions. Last year we entertained the youth team and still had a gate of over 500 which shows that there is fantastic support for Norwich in the Dereham area.

"Tickets are selling really well and it's a great opportunity for people to come and see some of the players that are currently on the books at the club that they support, as well as helping a local club financially.

"We look forward to a terrific evening and hope that all the Norwich supporters making the trip to Aldiss Park enjoy a pleasant evening."

Magpies' officials confirmed more than 700 tickets had already been sold yesterday for the regular fixture. Tickets - costing £6 (£3 children) - are on sale at Just Kitchenware in the High Street, Birds Sport & Outdoor in Norwich Street, and Breckland Taxis in the Market Place or from Dereham Town on 01362 690460.

There will also be admission on the night.
