Hold tight, Canaries fans, the roller-coaster ride starts tonight.

There will probably be just a handful of City supporters able to witness Daniel Farke’s first Norwich City match in Ireland.

The German’s bow comes in a low-key friendly at Cobh Ramblers, which begins his team’s pre-season fixtures as part of a five-day training camp on the Emerald Isle, and forward Steven Naismith says Farke has already made an impact.

“The routine that we work to is quite different to what we have done in the past but it’s important we do what he wants and what he thinks is right,” the Scot said before the game (7.30pm kick-off).

“There was a lot of information for us take in with the style of play that he wants us to play.”

Most players returned for fitness testing at the start of last week but the squad is not yet up to its full complement, with the team-sheet likely to offer plenty of hints to influence the swirling transfer rumour mill.

If midfielder Jonny Howson is nowhere to be seen at the 6,000 capacity St Colman’s Park then many will feel he is unlikely to be seen in the yellow and green again.

Jacob Murphy shared an Instagram post suggesting that he and Angus Gunn were on their way to Miami for a break at the weekend, following their extended season with the England U21s.

But the home fans will be hoping to get a glimpse of star attraction Wes Hoolahan, having returned to training following three appearances for the Republic of Ireland since the end of last season.

“It’s good to get your first game, obviously in pre-season you look forward to playing the games,” Naismith continued.

“It’s a good game, we’re here for a week so it’s a nice game for us to play in but I don’t think we’ll all be playing more than an hour or so in the game – so it’s more a case of getting a touch of the ball and doing what the manager wants us to do.”

When asked if the play-offs would be City’s target this season, speaking to @CobhRamblersFC on Twitter, Naismith added: “I think it’s got to be, as a club at Norwich we want to be challenging to get up but obviously there’s been a lot of change so at the start it’ll be about taking on what the manager wants and going from there.

“Hopefully that is, come the end of the season, at least a play-off place.”
