Diallang Jaiyesimi is not giving up hope of a future at Norwich City, with his contract situation yet to be settled as he chases promotion from League Two with loan club Swindon Town.

The forward, who turns 21 next month, is under contract at Norwich until the end of this season - although there is an option for a further 12 months in a deal which was signed back in November 2017.

Jaiyesimi was signed from non-league Dulwich Hamlet in January 2016 and soon established himself as a regular at under-23 level for City, leading to League Two loan spells at Grimsby and Yeovil.

A serious knee injury wrecked the skilful attacker's season-long loan at Yeovil after a bright start and the early stages of this season were spent chasing full fitness.

That appears to have been successful, with the Canaries prospect starting the Robins' last eight league games, racking up three goals and an assist in 15 games for the League Two leaders - drawing praise from manager Richie Wellens.

Jaiyesimi explained: "I don't know about my future at Norwich just yet - I've just got to concentrate on Swindon for the time being and take whatever happens as it comes.

"Hopefully I could play for Norwich in the Championship if they do go down, but it's football and you never know what can happen.

"At the moment, I'm just trying to stay consistent because that's something that I need to add to my game. The more matches that I play, the more likely that is to come."

With Norwich facing an uphill battle to retain their Premier League status and with several of the club's top talents likely to be in demand this summer, Jaiyesimi's talk of a possible Championship chance could well hold true.

He is yet to be involved at first-team level for City but does have 63 appearances and six goals to his name at senior level, also making three appearances in the EFL Trophy for the Canaries' U21s during 2016, alongside players including Josh Murphy and Ben Godfrey.

Speaking to the Swindon Advertiser, Jaiyesimi continued: "It's been slow for me coming off the back off that Yeovil loan and then getting injured.

"But Swindon was really a step up for me because it's a good team - it's not a team that is battling relegation or anything like that. It's been good so far and I'm enjoying my football.

"Some of the boys in the academy at Norwich get in a position where they are stuck not playing first-team football, maybe playing under-23 football.

"I always tell them that it's a good idea to go out on loan and put yourself out there because if you do well, good things can come off the back of it."
