Diss Town manager Rob Taylor is willing to give everyone a chance to shine against Norwich City this evening - even if he runs out of shirts.

The Tangerines host a Canaries XI at Brewers Green Lane (7.45pm) as part of their preparations for a promotion assault on the Ridgeons League First Division this term, which means a host of trialists and young players hoping to stake a claim to join Town's more established guard for the new season.

“We've got a lot of trialists on show, a lot of boys that are new and wanting to join the football club, which we've had to take time and have a look at, but it's gone well,” said Taylor.

“They are looking forward to it. This may be the biggest game they play in their whole lives, so it's going to be interesting for them and hopefully they will go out and enjoy themselves and take it all in on the night.

“Everyone will get a run out. Some might only get about 15 minutes, but at least they can say they entered the field against a professional football club, a professional football team, and at the end of the day I'll give everyone a chance - if I've got enough shirts for them all.

“I think I've got about 27 lads to try and get on the pitch, so hopefully there will be enough for them.”

With Norwich making a trip to League Two Lincoln City tomorrow night, it is likely tonight's XI will be made up by City's youngsters, including Josh Dawkin who signed his first professional deal in the summer, while Wales international Owain Tudur Jones and Danish centre-back Jens Berthel Askou could also feature.

The workout will certainly be of use to Taylor's Tangerines, who have had an indifferent pre-season to date but are planning to go one better and secure a Premier Division spot come next year.

“Some of the players have had little niggling injuries but hopefully tomorrow we'll have everybody back - and win the game!” said a partially joking Taylor. “The boys with injuries got a rest at the weekend and they should be fit.

“Everyone is looking for promotion this year, I am especially, and the players want to get it. We played very well last year, we only lost seven games and that wasn't good enough.

“We know what we've got to do this year, we've got the same bunch of boys as last year, kept them all together, so hopefully the young boys will push on.”

Meanwhile, tabloid speculation that Danny Green and Scott Doe are set to join Norwich City appears to be wide of the mark after the pair signed new deals at Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Daggers confirmed yesterday midfield creator Green, 22, and centre-half Doe, 21, had put pen to paper on new three-year contracts that will keep them at Victoria Road until 2013.
