Thetford enjoyed long periods of possession and created many half-chances in a game that was played in torrential rain throughout.
Newmarket had arguably the best chance of the game when keeper Bilham had to be at his best to save with his feet from the speedy Samuels. In injury time Town could have clinched all three points when Browne twice had good efforts well saved by the Newmarket keeper.
