Tim Krul is in no mood to consider his personal future amid a Premier League survival scrap – but the Dutchman is happy with life as a Norwich City player.

The 31-year-old has remained the Canaries' undisputed number one this season as he continues rebuilding his top-level career, with a Holland recall for the first time since 2015 looking likely next month.

Krul's consistent form and influential role in Daniel Farke's team could well bring summer interest from other clubs if City do slip back to the Championship, however the goalkeeper signed a new three-year contract last month and is only thinking about survival.

"There's still a third (of the season) to play, there's a lot of football to play," Krul said when asked about his future. "I signed an extension and I'm grateful to this club because they gave me the opportunity to come back into football, so that definitely weighs really heavily.

"My family is really happy, this club is going places and no matter what league we are in next year, we've got an amazing base set by the manager and Stuart Webber, and with the board backing - it's not a lie, it looks great from the outside and even more from the inside."

Krul was hailed for a fantastic double save during the second half of Saturday's narrow 1-0 defeat to runaway leaders Liverpool, with Holland boss Ronald Koeman at Carrow Road to check on the former Newcastle number one's form - who joined City in 2018 as he rebuilt his career after a major knee injury.

"That's the most frustrating thing, to be nearly there," Krul said of the loss to Liverpool. "Unfortunately we've said that a few times this season but I think we can be proud of what we showed again on the pitch.

"This league, you can only talk about points, unfortunately. But on the other side, you have to realise where we were 18 months ago. To play the world champions the way we did and gave them a right good go, they weren't at ease at all.

"We've come a long way as a club and this club is still going places, so we should be proud of the way we've played because we've showed our philosophy but unfortunately that final bit of quality, in the end, we lacked."
