King's Lynn boss Keith Webb is targeting fresh FA Cup glory after landing a tricky first round qualifying trip to Unibond Premier Lincoln United on Saturday, September 15.

Lynn earned a glamour televised home tie against Oldham last season and Webb is promising knockout football will not play second fiddle to Lynn's Southern League promotion push.

The Linnets must also travel to former Ridgeons powerhouses AFC Sudbury in an FA Trophy first round qualifier on Saturday, October 20.

“My approach is no different - I want to win every game,” insisted Webb. “It's not about looking at the league and worrying about any effect cup games might have. These are big matches for clubs in terms of revenue and I expect two very hard games. Being drawn away from home is not ideal, but with our ongoing ground situation that is not a bad thing.”

Lynn have already applied to the Southern League for special dispensation to play their opening month's fixtures away from the Walks following delays to the club's Main Stand re-development.

Webb's first team squad reported back for pre-season training at the weekend. Michael Frew and Matt O'Halloran were among those signing Southern League forms following summer speculation linking the duo with a move away.

Matt Nolan and Jack Defty are set to link up with the squad this week after returning from holiday. Shaun Carey made a welcome return from the horrific double leg break injury against Corby in February.

“Everyone I expected to turn up was there,” said Webb. “All the lads have signed league forms. We did a 90 minute session but everything we do in training and pre-season games now is about being ready for August 18 and the start of the season.

“Shaun is almost like getting a new player back. He's doing his running and just stepping up his twisting and turning. I'm fairly confident he'll be there or thereabouts for the kick off although he will need a few reserve games.”

Webb also ran the rule over central defensive triallist Chris Kerr, while the Linnets' chief confirmed he is still in the hunt for a potential football league target.
