Thetford Town battled back from a half time 0-2 deficit to gain a draw against unbeaten Great Yarmouth Town and indeed score the first two goals they have conceded this season, on Tuesday night.

Despite their early dominance and passing game Thetford were stunned when a long ball from Yarmouth's Ager was headed upwards by Thetford's Steve Crawshaw but fell to Scott Woodcock who turned sharply to shoot home. Thetford went further behind just before half-time when Scott Woodcock played a neat one-two with Stewart Roach to hammer home his and Great Yarmouth's second.

Sam Bryant was brought on to partner Kwame Jones as Thetford switched to 4-4-2 and immediately Bryant raced through only to be upended in the box by Yarmouth's Ager who was very fortunate not to receive a red card as last man.

Reliable Lee Brewer stepped up to send Yarmouth Keeper Elliot Price the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Thetford continued to have the lion share of the second half with Bryant having a splendid debut.

Yarmouth were still dangerous on the break and were unlucky not to put the game out of Thetford's reach with a thunderous Stewart Roach free kick coming back off the post.

Again they threatened with the pacey Scott Woodcock one on one with Thetford keeper Dan Corston who on this occasion did well to divert the ball and deprive Woodcock his hat-trick.

This was to be the turning point of the game as Kam Senior headed to ball straight at the keeper from two yards as Thetford turned the screw harder and harder. With time running out Yarmouth failed to clear the ball from a goalmouth scramble and Thetford skipper Dave Richards poked the ball home to give Thetford a deserved equaliser.

We would like to thank Macrow Fencing of Thetford for sponsoring the match.

On Saturday, Thetford suffered their first defeat since the new-look side formed this pre-season.

Defensively Thetford lost discipline and switched off at a vital time in the game, completely lost the centre of midfield, and gave Jones little support or quality ball upfront.

All over the park Thetford were bullied out of it by a side that worked harder than them, and wanted it more than them.

Hadleigh wanted a fight and Thetford didn't give it to them, although the 3-1 score line flattered Hadleigh.

Manager Mick Money is in desperate need for a leader in the centre of midfield who is prepared to roll his sleeves up and inspire all around him and says it's his job to find him.

He believes he could already be at the club and if he is it's time for him to step forward and apply for the job

Money is hoping that Sam Giacomelli, David Bloomfield and Mark Kemp will soon be fit to increase the squad.
