Norwich City prospect Sebastian Soto has been called up to the USA senior squad for the first time, after scoring five goals in his first seven matches of the season.

The striker was among the top scorers at the Under-20 World Cup as the US reached the quarter-finals in 2019 but didn’t make the breakthrough at German club Hannover so joined the Canaries this summer.

Due to work permit issues in the UK, having not been capped at senior international level, the 20-year-old joined Telstar in the Dutch second tier and has made a strong start to the campaign.

It emerged recently that Chile were considering a call-up due to Soto’s family roots but the Californian is one of 10 uncapped players to be called up, having progressed through the national academy system.
