Despite a season of under achievement, Norwich City are clear favourites to win today's clash at Carrow Road according to Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock.

“They've had some good results and they'll be expecting to win,” he stated.

“It's always difficult going to Norwich but this game is not going to decide what the outcome at the end of the season is going to be. That's going to be decided over the next eight games really.

“I think everybody is in the same boat, at the top of the league or the bottom of the league.”

Warnock knows United's season has stalled recently, with them claiming one point in the last three games.

“We've been disappointed not to have picked better results up when we should have done,” he said. “We can't blame anybody else, it's our own fault.

“Everybody's aware of the situation at the top, even down to Crystal Palace. They still have hopes of getting into second position, you can go that far down.

“It's just a great position that we're in. If you'd said to me that with eight games to go we'd be guaranteed a play-off place - I'm not saying mathematically we are - but if you'd have said that before I think everybody would have snapped hands off.

“Norwich came down with such high expectations but I think they would swap places with us now.”

He added: “It's expectation really. Because we've had such a good season, expectations are high.

“It's just a matter of confidence, football is like that. It's like strikers who don't score, as soon as they score once they're on their way.”

He defended his transfer moves against critics' claims that his squad is top heavy with centre forwards. “We've scored goals all season. The reason I brought strikers in is because we didn't have enough back-up if players got injured.

“We have got that back-up but now obviously we've not scored in two games so we have to look at that. But over the season we've scored from virtually every position. I think we're one of the top scorers in the league,” he said.
