Without subs available Waveney’s win was mainly due to being very disciplined and hard battling throughout the match.

Mulbarton took the initiative straight from the beginning. The central midfield combination with J Szyszlyk and K Hodgson nevertheless managed to disturb the Mulbarton build-up effectively. M Wilson took Waveney’s second chance of the match for a surprise lead with a shot through a crowded penalty area after 31 minutes. In the second half Mulbarton had even more possession and most of the match was played in Waveney’s half. H Jary in goal had to produce several top class saves.

The defenders A Wilson, M .Eaton, K Lambert and S Rudd in her debut were equally impressive. Completely against the run of play J Szyszlyk’s shot from distance found the Mulbarton net after 56 mintes. The Mulbarton pressure continued, but occasional fast breaks from J Langer and L Muffet became more frequent and eventually S Crane decided the match after another fast counterattack in the 80th minute.
