King's Lynn boss Keith Webb yesterday urged fans and players to keep the faith in the hunt for an elusive maiden Blue Square North win.

Lynn bagged a seventh consecutive draw in a goal less stalemate at Stafford to maintain the club's unbeaten start to their first-ever Conference season. Webb has identified a home league double header starting with Fleetwood's visit to The Walks on Saturday as key to hopes of breaking their duck.

"We just need the first one to settle everyone down and kick start us," he said, with Hyde's league trip to Norfolk the following weekend sandwiching a home Setanta Shield match up against old rivals Tamworth.

"To go seven matches unbeaten in a new league is something I think anyone would have taken before the start of the season. But we know it's a fine line. We've got two home games coming up that we need to make the most of.

"We've just taken two points away from home and come away unbeaten but we know it's time to pick up the home form.

"I really can't fault the lads this season - apart from perhaps Stalybridge the other day. Even then, effort-wise, there wasn't a problem. We need to build on that and show our quality in the right areas of the pitch."

Rushden & Diamonds' loan recruit Scott Mitchell featured in a 70 minute debut outing at Stafford alongside Adam Smith in a ball-playing central midfield alongside the combative Mark Camm. Ben Sedgemore was left on the bench with David Bridgwater omitted from the match day squad as Webb shuffled his midfield pack.

"I wouldn't want to say it's a case of freshening things up," said Webb. "I thought there were some good signs from those two lads. They are both good on the ball but Bridgy is also a technical player as well. I just wanted to get some more mobility in that area of the park. I'd had good reports about Scott and he showed his ability on the ball. The thing to remember is he hadn't really played since pre-season so there is a lot more to come. He does give us options but for me at the minute I see him operating in the middle of the park."

Webb admitted he was frustrated Lynn failed to test rookie Rangers' keeper Danny Allen. The teenager was thrown into the fray during the first half for his debut after Danny Alcock was stretchered away with a suspected dislocated shoulder.

"If I had one criticism we didn't work the guy enough," said Webb. "The first keeper made a great save to keep out Joe's (Francis) strike when he got injured. Then they bring on a young lad and we didn't put him under enough pressure."
