After an enforced two week break due to bad weather Albion were keen to put in a performance in what is always an entertaining match against Dyers Arms.

Albion looked lively from kick-off putting Dyers Arms on the back foot with a majority of the possession. Against the run of play Dyers Arms took the lead with a close range effort beating Chard.

Albion still pushed on, Bowes-Shorten and Taylor causing trouble on the flanks. Good work down the left by Taylor saw Littleboy put in for a good chance but he couldn’t quite squeeze the ball home. Albion forced a number of corners in the half and it was from one of these that the home side equalised, Rochford celebrated the goal after heading the ball somewhere in the six year box but eventually admitting the defender got the final touch.

The away side came into the game in the final 10 minutes of the half and a long range effort wasn’t caught cleanly by keeper Chard and the opposition’s striker was on cue to double their lead. A third was added before the break as their striker, felled in the area by the Albion keeper, subsequently converted the awarded penalty.

Albion were put back in contention midway through the second half when Mark Leeper fired in a long range free kick to make it 3-2. Chances for Rochford and Martin went begging as Albion looked for a deserved equaliser but it was more bad luck when a Dyers Arms cross was sliced in by defender Farrow attempting to cut out the pass.

Wensum will take positives from this game and look forward to the Shoe Trades Cup tie against the same opposition.
