Wensum Albion 1 Yelverton 4

Table-toppers Yelverton were the visitors to Thorpe High School as Albion looked for some bouncebackability from a poor result last weekend. Albion matched the away side in the first quarter of the match but were a goal down soon after when poor team defending from a set piece allowed a Yelverrton defender to poke the ball home at the back post. Yelverton doubled their lead in similar fashion when another set piece was converted from close range. At the other end Albion forced a number of free kicks but failed to test the 'keeper in a meaningful way. The match opened up more in the second half as Albion pushed forward looking for the equaliser, Stuart Jarrett going close with a well struck freekick that hit the crossbar. Striker Pete Gorbould popped up to pull a goal back with a quality strike from the right hand side. Philo also saw a freekick go close but the away side regained their two goal cushion with an attack down the left allowed their striker to finish in the box despite calls for a foul by the forward. Albion left themselves open at the back as they pushed numbers forward and scored their fourth after a quick counter attack from an Albion corner. Not the best result but a half respectable performance against good opposition. Hatch Brenner Solicitors Man of the Match: Pete Gorbould.
