Whitehawk are ready to make the most of home advantage in the first leg of their FA Vase semi-final against Wroxham, according to manager George Parris.

The Brighton-based side will welcome the Yachtsmen to The Enclosed Ground on March 27 for their last-four clash before the return at Trafford Park a week later.

And Parris, who co-manages the team with Darren Freeman, is confident his side can end the Wembley dreams of Norfolk's last Vase survivors.

"You obviously look to do well on your home patch," said Parris. "We're looking forward to being at home first, but there's no reason why, as we've shown, we can't go away from home and get some good results. You have to take it one game at a time. Over a two-legged game, I think normally the better side will go through. If you have a hard luck story in the first leg, you've got a chance to put that right in the second."

Parris, who played more than 200 games for West Ham and also played for Birmingham and Brighton, guided the Sussex County League side to an impressive 3-1 victory away to highly-fancied Gresley, in the last eight. Sitting second in Division One with five games in hand over leaders Chichester City, Whitehawk's Vase run has also seen them prove to be strong away from home - reaching the semi-finals with wins on their travels in the previous four rounds.

"I like to think we're a reasonable outfit," said Parris. "We like to pass the ball when we can, but also, when we haven't got it, we battle to win it back. I'm sure over the next few weeks ourselves and Wroxham will have a look at each other. We'll go and watch them once and have an idea of what they can and can't do. Possibly you can get wrapped up in what the opposition do, and forget to play yourself. But we'll give them due respect, it's a semi-final and they've obviously done well to get that far. Over most of the games we've played really well as a team. At given points most individuals have had good games. What has shown is that we've stuck together as a group of people."

Wroxham's Ridgeons League Premier Division fixture at Wivenhoe, postponed yesterday because of a waterlogged pitch, is now scheduled to take place this evening (7.45pm). The match is still the subject of a morning inspection however and will be delayed until tomorrow if there are any problems.
