Q Been a tough season – what’s happening at Blackburn?
A Well, it’s been a tough few years. Ever since the Venkys took over the club has been in decline, but this has definitely been the most testing season. Our biggest issue this season has been letting in early goals and leaving it too late to force a comeback.
Q Can Tony Mowbray turn it around?
A I think many would agree that he wasn’t a name that we as fans were hoping for, but it seems like in his three games so far he has most certainly tightened us up at the back and got us more organised. I just hope that he can keep it up and have a true chance to put his stamp on the team in the summer, but first we MUST stay in the championship.
Q Who are your key players?
A I think Danny Graham and Sam Gallagher really give us that threat up top, especially when they are receiving quality service from the midfield. Another important player is Darragh Lenihan – he’s still got a lot to learn but he’s young and hungry and really gives us that bite, whether it’s at the back or in midfield.
Q Who do Rovers have to watch out for in the City squad?
A I think we have to be very careful of City on the counter-attack. They showed how dangerous they can be against Forest. Wes Hoolahan has always been that magic ingredient for the Canaries, but I’ve really been impressed with the quality of the Murphy twins this season. Jacob’s goal against us on the opening day was unbelievable!
Q It’s been a difficult season for City too – did you think they would struggle to make the play-offs?
A I think struggle is a loose word – there have been times this season where the Canaries have been flying with their performances. The Championship is an unpredictable league and there have been many teams that have also unexpectedly struggled like Villa, Birmingham (they were doing very well under Gary Rowett) and Derby. But that’s allowed for the likes of Brighton, Huddersfield, Leeds and Reading to take full advantage and put themselves within touching distance of the Premier League.
Q You’ve come a long way for this game – will the journey be worth it?
A Yeah Cincinnati, Ohio, is another world away! Everything just fell perfectly, I was always coming back for my birthday tomorrow and when the fixture list came out for this season I was ecstatic that Rovers would be coming into town (I had to drive to Blackburn and back in one day last year to watch them play). I’m just excited to see the team play and if we get the win then it’ll wrap up an awesome birthday trip. I am a season ticket holder at FC Cincinnati back home – they play in the USL and have really been a success story for the growth of the sport in the US but nothing beats a good old-fashioned English footie match!
Q Score prediction?
A They’ve always been pretty exciting game against Norwich at Carrow Road. My heart says 2-1 Rovers but realistically I’m thinking a 2-2 draw.
