One of the Coca-Cola Championship's most improved sides will be out to shatter Norwich City's rediscovered home resolve at the weekend.

And one of the biggest bogey men from the Canaries' past is relishing the chance to finally kill off their wafer-thin chance of finishing in a top six play-off spot.

Fans with long memories will know that Ray Graydon was the man whose goal gave Aston Villa a 1-0 victory over Norwich in the League Cup final at Wembley in 1975.

Now Graydon is coach of a Leicester City team who have produced a remarkable run of six wins and three draws in their last 10 league matches.

The Foxes have undergone a dramatic transformation since Rob Kelly took charge of first-team affairs following the sacking of Craig Levein at the Walkers Stadium in late January.

On Saturday, they came within five minutes of becoming only the third team this season to beat Reading. Now well clear of the danger zone, they will fancy their chances of ending the Canaries' run of four successive home wins when the two sides meet at Carrow Road.

Kelly and Graydon have already done their homework on Nigel Worthington's men, beaten 2-0 in such depressing fashion at Burnley on Friday night.

Buoyed by the 1-1 draw against Reading - who were promoted with six matches to spare - Graydon said: “We have already started to prepare for the game against Norwich on Saturday.

“We've already gone through the reports we received following their defeat at Burnley on Friday.

“They are a big club with similar aspirations to ourselves and people would have expected them to be certainly in the promotion shake-up back at the start of the season.

“I don't know whether they have finally said goodbye to their chances of getting into the play-offs, but I am sure, like ourselves, they won't be taking their foot off the pedal.”

Graydon told his club's website: “They have got some very good players who will cause us a threat. We all know about players like Darren Huckerby - he has caused problems in the Premiership. We will have to be at our best to go there and get some kind of result.

“But it is the same as I said ahead of the Reading game - it is the sort of fixture that the players and the fans will be really looking forward to.”

Worthington has already demanded a big improvement on his team's Turf Moor showing, even though the result may be academic given their almost impossible pursuit of a top six place, especially if sixth-placed Preston beat bottom club Crewe at Deepdale tonight.

But having celebrated New Year's Eve with a 1-0 victory at Leicester, the Canaries will be desperate not to play the April fools in the return fixture as they look for their third Championship double of the season.

Paul McVeigh, who scored a second-half winner at the Walkers Stadium, missed the Burnley trip with back trouble but City will be hoping he is fit for a recall.

Leicester have no fresh injury worries from the Reading game.

“One or two of the players will need some extra work just to get themselves up to speed, but apart from that we are in pretty good shape,” said Graydon.
