To commemorate the Canaries' greatest FA Cup run fifty years ago the team will be taking to the pitch in a special replica shirt on Saturday - and the Evening News is giving readers the chance to bag one of the shirts for free.

The famous '59ers' took Norwich City all the way to the semi-finals as a Third Division club, defeating heavyweights Spurs and Matt Busby's Manchester United on the way.

Eventually the club were knocked out a game away from Wembley by Luton Town, losing 1-0 in a replay on March 18 1959 after drawing 1-1 four days earlier.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the squad's remarkable achievements this year's team will play their first FA Cup tie of the season in a replica of the classic shirt.

And sponsors Aviva have teamed up with the Evening News to give readers the chance to win one of three of the limited edition shirts.

Just 959 of the special replica shirts have been made - and at last count there were less than 100 left in the club shop, so our competition may be the last chance to get your hands on one.

Players will take to the field on Saturday wearing the shirt for their third-round FA Cup away clash with Charlton Athletic.

The commemorative shirt follows the distinctive 1958-1959 design, with a green v-neck and sleeve trim, and will have no sponsor logo.

On Saturday the team will also play in black shorts, as the 59ers did.

Aviva's sponsorship manager Chris Elliot said: “We will be supporting the celebrations of the 1959 Cup run in many ways which will involve fans, the community and our staff. For the third round the team will wear these special shirts and we're delighted to give fans a chance to win them.”

The shirt was unveiled in October by current player Sammy Clingan and strike legend Terry Allcock, who played in the historic cup run 50 years ago.

Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase the player-worn shirts in a charity auction sometime after Saturday's game.

An anniversary dinner will also be held at Carrow Road to honour the 1958-1959 team.

Taking place in the Norfolk Lounge on January 16, tickets are available for the dinner from the club at £45 each, or £400 for a table.
