Norwich City fans are being given the chance of a lifetime - to win a trip out to America to see Canaries' legend Darren Huckerby in action for Californian club San Jose Earthquakes.

The competition, a must for all City fans, is part of the new Canary Preview magazine which goes on sale on Saturday ahead of Norwich's pre-season friendly with a Manchester United XI at Carrow Road.

Huckerby, who played 203 times for City, scoring 48 goals, was released by former manager Glenn Roeder in May 2008 causing an outcry among fans.

The winger, who was named in Norwich City's “Greatest Ever” team at Carrow Road last summer, kept true to his pledge of not wanting to play against City and was snapped up by the Californian-based Major League Soccer Team.

Since joining the Quakes in July last year Huckerby, two-time Norwich City player of the year, has gone down a storm in the States where his wing wizardry has made him an American Idol and helped create a new excitement for the game.

He was named 2008 MLS newcomer of the year and to date has scored eight goals in 23 starts for his new club, despite having a number of injury problems.

The Canary Preview, produced by Evening News publisher Archant, is offering two lucky winners the chance to hook up with Huckerby in the sunshine state.

The dream trip includes scheduled flights from Norwich to San Jose and accommodation for seven nights, leaving on Monday, September 28.

The two lucky winners will enjoy VIP hospitality as the Quakes take on the New York Bulls on Saturday, October 3 and following the match Huckerby has agreed to meet up with the winners who will always receive 500 in spending money.

“I think it's an incredible prize and whoever wins will no doubt have the trip of their lives,” said Huckerby, who could be set for a return to the Canaries' when his contract runs out with the Quakes in November.

“California really is an incredible place to visit. I look forward to meeting up after the game,” he added.

Matt Chambers, Canary Preview editor, said: “We're delighted to be able to offer Canary Preview readers the chance of winning this unbelievable prize. It's simply a once in a lifetime trip for any Norwich City fan, but clearly it will also appeal to a much wider audience - so don't miss your chance and make sure you buy a copy!"

In addition to the not-to-be missed Huckerby competition, there are plenty of other reasons to get your copy of the Canary Preview, including a chat with Kingdom star Stephen Fry who spills the beans about his love for Norwich City, as well as interviews with City boss Bryan Gunn, an exclusive chat with joint majority shareholders Delia Smith and her husband Michael Wynn Jones, and City hotshot Cody McDonald.
