Wisbech Town boss Gary Setchell has admitted the Fenmen are fighting to keep striker Alex Beck at the club.
Beck has been subject to interest from fellow UCL Premier Division side Boston Town in recent weeks and showed why he is on their radar with four goals in Wisbech’s 5-0 FA Vase win over Bourne Town last Saturday.
“Boston have come in for him so keeping him here is going to be hard,” Setchell said. “He’s a Boston lad and the travelling is a bit much for him. I’ve spoken to him and I’ve told him I hope he doesn’t leave.
“He’s a big part of what we’re doing here and we desperately want to keep our good players and add one or two, not lose one or two.”
Beck fired himself to the top of Wisbech’s goal-scoring charts with an impressive four-goal haul on Saturday, with midfielder Kieran Hamilton adding the other goal with a superb solo effort.
Wisbech return to league action today when they host Wellingborough Whitworths.
