The Foxes have secured Coca-Cola Championship survival after successive away wins at Preston and Barnsley.
Saturday's 1-0 win at Oakwell came courtesy of a Neil Austin own goal, in front of 4,000 travelling Leicester fans.
Worthington agreed a short-term deal with club owner Milan Mandaric, who gave him a remit to keep the club in the Championship.

They lost his first two games in charge, at home to Norwich and Birmingham, but with the survival objective now achieved, the caretaker boss faces an anxious wait on his future.
“The job is complete in terms of the club being in the Championship next year,” said Worthington.

“I didn't even see coming to Leicester as a gamble. You've got to put your neck on your line and it's a great club which I've admired for years.
“Martin O'Neill was here and did a great job and I knew the circumstances would be short-term.
“The one thing about Nigel Worthington is that he never loses his desire.
“That comes part and parcel of being Irish - you never lose the passion and the desire.
“I've got that in abundance and if I can get the job here then I'll be very pleased.
“If it doesn't happen here then I'll be looking to get a job somewhere else.”
Former Fulham boss Chris Coleman and Macclesfield manager Paul Ince have also been linked with the post.
