Wroxham go into tonight's Norfolk Senior Cup final as favourites as they look to lift the trophy for the eighth time in their history.

The Yachtsmen take on King's Lynn Reserves at Carrow Road (7.30pm) and neutrals will be hoping for another feast of goals, something which has been served up in the two league meetings between the teams this season.

Wroxham, who first won the cup in 1993, won 6-0 in the encounter at Trafford Park and edged the most recent fixture, winning 5-4 at The Walks in March.

This is the north Norfolk side's 11th appearance in the Senior Cup final and boss Andy Baker knows how important the competition is to the club.

He said: “They (the Wroxham players) take their football very seriously and irrelevant of how many times they've been here before, they will want to win the Senior Cup again.

“The last game between the two sides was a superb advert for local football. I'll be hoping for more of the same at Carrow Road, an entertaining game with plenty of goals.”

King's Lynn, as a club, boast the greater amount of final appearances, with the success of the first team over the years playing a key role. The reserves will tonight be making their third appearance in the final, having lifted the cup in 1983.

Their manager Steve Lilley conceded: “Wroxham will be favourites. In our first meeting with them this season they were very good. It was men against boys at times and as a result we perhaps showed them a little too much respect in the first hour or so of our next meeting with them at The Walks.

“At one point we were 5-1 down on that evening but in the last half an hour we really went for them, caused them problems and had the game gone on for another five minutes I think we'd have got it back to 5-5. That'll give my players the belief they need. We can cause an upset.”

Tickets for the final, staged in partnership with City College Norwich, are available on the turnstile, priced at 6 for adults and 3 for concessions. For further information visit www.NorfolkFA.com
