Wroxham share spoils

Wroxham travel to Harwich & Parkeston, who are bottom of the Ridgeons Premier Division table this Saturday.

A mid-table clash ended honours even with Wroxham remaining one place under behind Walsham-le-Willows.

The Walsham-le-Willows side included ex-Yachtsmen Duncan McAnally and Steve Harley.

Wroxham were doing most of the attacking but came up against a solid back line.

A bit of Harley magic saw him turn past Shaun Howes and his shot thundered against the underside of the bar but it was cleared.

The visitors' Lee Sim got in a shot which was just wide after Harley mesmerised his former colleagues.

Good work by Spriggs set up Owen Paynter who from the edge of the box hit a terrific shot which Newman did well to divert.

The game was end to end now and a good ball in from Gavin Pauling reached Paynter whose toe-poke almost deceived McAnally but he got enough on the shot to recover.

Cook and then Paynter both had chances but the former Wroxham keeper denied them both.

Walsham came out more determined after the break and Sims 25 yarder was just wide. For Wroxham, Shaun Howes got in a good cross but it eluded everyone.

Walsham were playing some neat football and almost scored when Tatham hit the upright. Then Wroxham's Danny White hit what seemed a certain goal but McAnally produced a brilliant diving save.

In the 72nd minute Wroxham were rewarded when Spriggs' cross from the right was met perfectly by Danny White to head in.

Wroxham looked to consolidate on this with another good four-man move which saw a 25-yarder from Spriggs just clear the bar. Cook's header from Sprigg's corner was blocked on the line and Gareth Simpson also went close.

The Yachtsmen were caught with a sucker goal in the 88th minute as Gavin Pauling brought down Tatham with no apparent danger. Andrew Cusack converted the

spot-kick for a share of the spoils.
