Of the four teams all on 16 points at the top of the Evening News Copy IT Norwich Sunday Legue Premier Division at the start of the day only Wymondham Rangers, 2-0 at Poringland, and Acle Rangers, 3-1 at home to Costessey Sports, managed to collect all three points.

The Grove were held to a 3-3 (Sam Mallet 2, Farin Deeba) draw at home to Norwich Busmen, whilst Marlborough’s game with Quebec was called off. Silver Fox scored the only goal of the game at Dog House, whilst Aaron Kay grabbed a hat-trick, Craig Vincent 2, Luke Tuttle 2 and Ty Bussens and Tom Cushion one each as AFC Wanderers won 9-2 at Norman Wanderers.

In what was described as a “really good and proper game of football” 1A leaders Reepham Town’s James Page scored his ninth goal of the season as they won 1-0 at Aslacton.

Norman Wanderers Res are now second after a 3-2 win at Fiveways and despite goals by Mark Critten and Shaun Kelly, Hainford YCOB went down 5-2 at North Walsham Town.

Two goals in the last seven minutes from Vale Longo’s Pete Crowley saw them grab a point at home to Windmill Wanderers, whilst Hellesdon Athletic got back to winning ways with a 6-3 victory at Green Man. Eaton FC and Horsford SC shared the points in a 1-1 draw.

With St Faiths inactive, Sprowston Rovers took the opportunity to go top of 1B as they beat Earlham Utd 5-1. Sprowston Wanderers recorded a very good 1-0 home win over Aylsham Sunday and Norfolk CCSC produced hat-tricks from James Elliot and Richard Taylor plus goals by Jonathan Spear and Josh Bull as they thumped Hillside OB 8-1. Unicorns scored five without reply at Haig FC and Prince of Denmark won 2-1 at home to Catton.

The Castlegate drew level with leaders Dussindale Rovers at the top of 2A after beating them 3-2. The Otter drew 3-3 at Acle Wanderers and despite taking the lead through John Davis, DCS Rapid were held to a 1-1 draw as Shaun Powley levelled for The Stores.

There was a good 3-1 (Parry, Quinsey, Brown) win for Deopham at River Garden, and congratulations go to Norman Wanderers A who gained their first points of the season after a great 4-1 win at Stoke FC. In 2B leaders Rose Tavern’s game was subject to a late call-off so Bayer FC were able to move to within two points of them as they beat Sporting Farmhouse 6-2. Ribs Rovers got the only goal as they beat PL Rangers and Taverham Utd won by the odd goal in five at Hethersett Ath.

There was a six-goal thriller as The Gordon and Acle Rangers Res took a point each, whilst my travels took me to Browick Rd for the basement battle between Wymondham and Poringland Reserves. Alex Guy put the home side ahead in the first minute, but Poringland stormed back to win 6-1 thanks to a Danny Webster hat-trick and goals by Robert Clarke, Luke Casey and Craig Mattocks.

Division 3A leaders Hockering won 8-1 at Mad Moose and stay a point ahead of Sprowston Royal Oak who were 6-3 (Patel 3, D Maxey, Revell and OG) winners at The Reindeer.

Wellington Pink Uns beat Temple Bar 4-1 and Hellesdon Res scored seven without reply against Heartsease Casuals. Newsman Celtic won 4-2 (Whitworth, Greenfield, Wright) at Dancing Farmers for whom Chris Moore scored twice.

Caseys Cosmos and Sporting Longdale took a point each in a 2-2 draw. Heartsease FC kept their 100 per cent record in 3B after a 4-2 win over AFC Oak and Freethorpe hit Earlham Utd Res for six. Hingham reached double figures when they beat Aylsham Res 11-1. Riverside Rovers continue to set the pace in 4B after beating Temples Property 3-1, but Hockering Res stay on their tail after a 3-1 home win over Eaton Young Boys. There was a good 3-1 win for Silver Fox Res over New Buckenham and Jason Huggins scored a goal on his debut as Earlham Colney beat Caseys Cosmos Res 1-0.

Sporting Longdale Res were presented with their Sporting Award for October from league chairman Paul Ballard before their 1-1 draw with DEF FC. With a non appearance from the referee, league registration secretary Will Jeffery stepped in to take on the role.

One Love Utd won a very good game of football 4-3 against Salhouse Rovers for whom Woolner, Clark and Callow scored. The Bell Inn are third after a 5-0 win against Hethersett Res and Briston got back on course after smashing 10 past Wendene Wanderers. Drayton won 5-3 (Frost 2, Tubb, Barty and OG) at Windmill Elite and Eaton Beehive came back from Dereham Utd with a 5-0 win. There was also a single goal victory for Spixworth Res over Chapelfield Rovers.
