Wymondham Town v AFC Norwich

Wymondham Town entertained Premier division Norwich on a blisteringly hot afternoon. After an even 15 minutes, Town mounted the first serious attack when Pattison combined with McCloy to send Stannard through, but his shot was just wide of the mark. However, two minutes later, after a mistake in the visiting defence, STANNARD cleverly drew the keeper and finished with aplomb. This stirred Town into a good 10-minute spell, with Catchpole, Priest and Brighton all testing the Norwich keeper.

Half-time score: Wymondham Town 1, AFC Norwich 0.

The second half continued as the first half had ended, with Town trying to play two-touch football and with Norwich's threat being the long ball from keeper Bilham. The back four of Hill, Cracknell, Mitchell and McCloy were restricting the visitors' long-range efforts and once again Hodges in the home goal's handling was impeccable. Town doubled their lead on the hour after a great through-ball from McCloy for RAMSBOTTOM, who lobbed the advancing keeper. With 10 minutes remaining, the visitors pulled a goal back when Barzey fortuitously sent the ball in off the post, but Town held on for a deserved victory, with useful contributions from substitutes Rackham and Scadden.

Final score: Wymondham Town 2, AFC Norwich 1.
