The first round qualifying draw of the Women’s FA Cup draw has seen debutant team Wymondham pitted against mighty Chelmsford.
The opposition play in the South East Combination, the same league as Norwich City Ladies.
Speaking after the draw for the game, which will take place on Sunday October 2, level 2 qualified coach and team manager Alex Guy said: “This is a huge game for both the team and the club. Last season we played Norwich City Ladies in the Norfolk Women’s Cup, but to have drawn Chelmsford in our first season in the FA Cup will prove difficult, very, very difficult.
“They are obviously a good team who play in a higher league but last season, we did very well against Norwich and i feel we are in a stronger position at this point in the season than we were last season.
“This is a huge game, and i have no doubt that they will give us 100 per cent and give them a run for their money.”
The second round qualifying round has also been drawn; the winners of this draw will be at home to either Hethersett or Woodbridge, both teams which Wymondham have played before.
Wymondham Ladies kick off their pre-season matches this weekend, at home to Red Rose, 2pm kick-off at King’s Head Meadow. The Ladies pre-season games are (all 2pm, unless stated):
August 7 at home v Red Rose
August 14 away v Norwich Reserves
August 17 home v Taverham (7PM ko)
August 21 home v Long Stratton
August 28 home v Fakenham Reserves
The first league game will be on Sunday September 4, fixtures are yet to be released.
