Wymondham Ladies started their league campaign away to newly-promoted Hockering.

Hockering started the brighter and created an early chance, which Christine was equal to.

Wymondham saw out the early pressure and statred to play some good football down the wings, and created chances for Gemma, whos shot hit the cross bar, Mez, whose shot was saved, and a couple of good efforts from Woody.

Midway through the half, Hockering went 1-0 up; the ball wasn’t cleared by Wymondham and Hockering wide player picked up the ball and her cross somehow found itself in the back of the net. Half time score: 1-0.

Wymondham made a couple of changes at half-time, but again, Hockering started the second half better and went 2-0 up with 30 minutes remaining. Wymondham started to play football and were dominated the remainder of the game, with Naomi making her debut on the right and Georgie Bowden making hers up front.

Wymondham pulled one back after Naomi worked the ball cleverly and found Gemma, who found some space and finished well from the edge of the area. Wymondham changed to 3-4-3 and continued to press, and were unlucky to equalise on several occasions, through Gemma, Naomi, Georgie and Woody but were unable to get a point.

POM: Gemma Hamilton for her hold-up play, passing and for her goal.

Wymondham are home on Sunday 11th, versus Stalham, 2pm KO.
