DISS U10 continued their recent good form with a hard-earned point against a physically strong Norman side.

Diss started the game well and were denied by some terrific work from the Norman keeper, first Charlie Bowen and then Mitchell Noller saw their shots well saved. The second half was all Diss and Norman can be grateful to their keeper for keeping the score level. Kieran Allen saw his fantastic run and shot well blocked. In the dying minutes Aaron Noller saw his brilliant shot excellently tipped round a post. MoM: Mitchell Noller, brilliant display.

DISS TOWN U18 gained their third and most convincing win of the season as they hit five goals for the first time this season against visitors Bungay. Liam Leverett scored his first goal of the season at this level when he ran from half way, beating defenders, before getting into the penalty area to shoot home. Soon after, Diss built a fine move down the right. Ross Shaen-Carter set up Elliot Jackson to shoot. His effort hit the bar but Shaen-Carter followed up, blasting the ball into the roof of the net via the underside of the bar from close range. Any hopes that Bungay had of getting back into the game were dealt a blow when they had a player sent off on the half-hour. Bungay hit the bar with a header and their keeper made saves to deny Shaen-Carter and Jackson. Two minutes before half-time Diss went 3-0 up. Shaen-Carter made a good run and laid a perfect pass into the path of Jackson, who fired home. Matty Cobb played a good ball in from the right and Damien Phelan got clear of the defence and netted. Bungay’s keeper made a series of fine saves to deny Alex Burlton, Shaen-Carter, Sheehan and Jackson. The best Diss goal was the final one – George Cole and Shaen-Carter linked up on the right and when the ball came over Jackson hit a superb left-foot volley from 12 yards out into the corner of the net. Bungay pulled a goal back two minutes from time. Diss assistant manager’s MoM: Jamie Sheehan. Diss U18’s next game is at Leiston this evening, 7.45pm.

HARLESTON U14 were at home to Kirkley & Pakefield, and with only a point between them in third and fifth this was an important game. In an extremely heated game it was the visitors who had the upper hand at half-time with a 1-0 lead. Harleston levelled the scores from a Josh Lewis penalty but then conceded two minutes later. The visitors then gave away another penalty which Lewis converted but yet again poor defending allowed Kirkly back in a couple of minutes later. The visitors scored another goal in the dying minutes to make it 4-2 in a very lacklustre performance from Harleston. Jack Brown had a good game in goal but this week’s MoM award went to Matt Howlett for a real “get stuck in” performance.

HEMPNALL U13 played Waveney Youth, conceding an early goal before squandering several good chances. Rhys Vertigans, Harry Gibson and Sam Fisher had to make several timely tackles and blocks to stop Waveney increasing their lead. In the second half Hempnall completely dominated. Callum Maloney outpaced the defence only to fire straight at the keeper. Joel Brookes saved well at the other end. Connor Garrod and Callum were lively up front whilst Ethan Humphrey and Dan Babington impressed in midfield. Callum was again put through by Dan and this time he smashed the ball past the advancing keeper. Thomas Hayes and Ben Allen were prominent on the wings. Dan almost won the game in the final 10 minutes, bursting through only to hit the inside of a post. Sam Cooke was superb after he came on, impressing with his enthusiasm and discipline. Final score: Waveney 1, Hempnall 1.

SCOLE U14 had a tough match against a strong physical Lakeford side. Scole struggled against the wind first half and Lakeford took the lead from the penalty spot after 15 minutes. They made it 2-0 at half-time after Scole failed to deal with a long ball. Scole improved in the second half and competed much better, Lakeford made it 3-0 and but for some great saves from Sam Baker (PoM) it could have been more. Joe Read had a great game in midfield and scored a consolation goal right at the end.

HARLESTON U15, in what was a copy of last season’s semi-final, progressed through to the shield final, beating Bohemians 3-2. They made life hard for themselves missing several chances and also hitting the woodwork before they finally scored, Mo Hadley tapping in a Kieran Allum cross. On the stroke of half-time Bohemiams equalised and then took the lead minutes into the second half. Harleston battled on and were rewarded with an equaliser when Robert Payne found himself at the far post on his own to score. With minutes left Liam Smith floated a free-kick into the box for Ollie Earl to fire into the roof of the net. Harleston hung on for the final few minutes to clinch victory.

HARLESTON U10 secured at least a runners-up spot after drawing with Martham in a tough encounter. Harleston could not get into their usual rhythm as Martham made it difficult and at times the match turned into a scrappy affair. The home side did take the lead when Lewis Haydon’s shot found its way into the net, Lingo almost doubled Harleston’s lead but the Martham keeper produced a great save. Martham then equalised to set up a tense second half in which both sides had chances to win. A fair result and congratulations to Harleston in what has been a great season.

DISS U11 started strongly against Bulldogs, competing well and playing some lovely football, with Ben Mills passing cleverly. MoM Jamie Channell opened the scoring after a great move. Diss deserved more goals but were pegged back just before half-time. The boys applied more pressure after the break and Matthew Neal restored the lead. However, as Diss tired, Bulldogs scored two quick goals. Diss revived, to their great credit, and Will Smith scored twice to put them ahead. Bulldogs equalised from a late penalty, which was a poor reward for a great Diss performance. Full-time score: 4-4.

SCOLE LADS returned to winning ways with a convincing away performance over Spixworth. The first few minutes were scrappy with Scole trying to score from all angles and distances but they soon got into their rhythm and Hitch opened the scoring midway through the first half. Additional goals quickly followed from Barsby, Browne and Burrows, before Hitch scored the goal of the half from a 20-yard dipping volley following good set-up play from Barsby and Burrows.

In the first 10 minutes of the second half, Scole threatened to rack up a cricket score with Pullinger adding his name to the score sheet, MoM Browne and Barsby getting their second goal each and Hitch notching up a third and fourth for himself. Spixworth claimed a consolation late on with Scole taking their foot off the pedal and contemplating the long journey home. Final score: Spixworth 1, Scole Lads 11.
