Norwich City have turned down an offer from a Championship rival for Todd Cantwell, according to a report.

Sky Sports claim the Canaries hierarchy have rejected an offer from an unnamed second-tier side amid suggestions Scottish giants Rangers are also keen on the 24-year-old.

Cantwell, who was left out of new City chief David Wagner’s squad for the FA Cup defeat to Blackburn, is out of contract at Carrow Road next summer.

The report claims Rangers are ready to make a move for the midfielder although they are yet to make that interest formal.

Gers boss Michael Beale admitted at the weekend that Cantwell is a player on his radar as well as Everton midfielder Tom Davies.

When asked about the two players, Beale said: "No names, but I think they are both good players.

"Todd was an excellent player when he was young and playing against my Liverpool Under-23s. I thought he would go on and have a fantastic career. He had that at the start and he is maybe just looking for a move to re-ignite it, but I think he is a fantastic player at a good age.

"And Tom Davies, he used to kick my Liverpool Under-23s team all around the place. There's a bit of John Lundstram about him. I'm not confirming anything with those two. But there's a lot of players we are speaking to at the moment."
