Lowestoft Town joint boss Ady Gallagher admits it will be “a journey into the unknown” this evening as the Blues look to continue their excellent league form at Harrow Borough (7.45pm).

Lowestoft made it four wins on the trot after a fine display against Folkestone Invicta on Saturday which lifted them up to third in the table while tonight's opponents were suffering a 5-1 hammering at Cray Wanderers.

But Gallagher knows that midweek games are an altogether different animal in this league, particularly when your side has just been through a bruising encounter just three days ago.

“We are going into unknown territory for us really and it's going to be tough,” he said. “They have started the season well and games away on a Tuesday night aren't easy.

“We've got a few knocks from the match against Folkestone so it's another opportunity to use the squad and see what they can do.

“We've just got to concentrate on ourselves at the moment and if we do that then we have a good chance.”

One piece of good news for the Trawlerboys is the excellent form of their strikeforce in the last three games.

The fans' concern that the club would miss Matt Nolan and Jamie Forshaw has so far not been realised, with Danny Bloomfield and Lee McGlone smashing seven goals between them in the last three games.

Bloomfield in particular has looked razor sharp while McGlone is so far proving to be the perfect foil for the veteran forward while weighing in with his own fair share of goals.

“They've both been terrific,” said Gallagher. “I think Bloomy is doing what he has done all of his career. He has got himself really sharp and he's working really hard.

“He is doing a fantastic job in getting goals for us. Lee McGlone is a very physical centre forward who has stepped up two levels and hasn't looked out of place. He is a hard player to play against and he brings so much to the team.

“Allied to their commitment and workrate to the team, they are chipping in goals as well - you can't ask for more than that.

“While your boys like Matty Nolan are out of the side it's important that others step up. These boys are stepping up and taking their chance.”

There may be more chances for some of the Blues squad to lay down a claim for a starting place in the first XI with several players doubts through injuries or illness.

Curtis Haynes-Brown was forced off at half-time on Saturday with a virus while Greg Crane (neck), Scott Mitchell (ankle) are also fighting to be fit. Dale Cockrill is ruled out through suspension after his red card against Hornchurch.

Gallagher is not concerned however and merely sees it as a chance for someone to come in and stake their claim for a starting berth.

“It's a squad game. We know that we've got a strong squad and it's frustrating for some of them to sit on the bench.

“But Bloomy is a prime example of someone who has waited and waited and has come in and scored four goals in three games.

“We are already picking up a few knocks and while it's frustrating for Jack Marsden and Bussey (Craig Bussens) in particular at the moment, they will get their opportunity.”

Andrew Cave-Brown has shrugged off the ankle problem that kept him out of the Blues' last two games although the management team will have to decide whether to keep Matt Halliday in the side, with the big defender impressing on the right side of defence.

“Cavey is really close so he could possibly come back in if necessary. There are some tired legs so we will have to wait and see how everyone settles down.

“We've had a lot of games in a short period of time recently and it takes its toll on players.

“Whatever side we pick it will be balanced and we know that it will be 11 players plus a bench full of players prepared to do the club proud.”
