One of the most dramatic games the Premier League has ever seen and, somehow, Norwich City came down on the wrong side of it.
It was arguably the moment that started the long goodbye to the top-flight under Alex Neil.
Roberto Firmino had put the Reds in front before City roared back thanks to Dieumerci Mbokani's backheel and Steven Naismith's arrowed debut goal in what didn't exactly prove to be a sign of what's to come from the Scot.
Wes Hoolahan added a penalty to make it 3-1 but Liverpool pulled level thanks to Jordan Henderson and Firmino's second. Russell Martin's disastrous backpass presented James Milner with what looked to be the winner until Sebastien Bassong's piledriver made it 4-4.
But the real drama was to come as Adam Lallana scuffed home the winner prompting pandemonium on the touchline as Jurgen Klopp lost his glasses in the chaos.

This one was all about Russell Martin.
The City skipper had travelled with the squad on Saturday only to learn his wife had gone into labour prompting Martin to drive through the night to see his son born at 9.30am on Sunday morning.
After greeting his new arrival Martin flew back to Anfield to take his place at the heart of the Canaries back four and more importantly, score the equaliser after Danny Ings had put the Reds ahead.
"I'm absolutely knackered now and need some sleep," said Martin after the game. "We showed what we're about today. We've not got any superstars but we're a real team."

Grant Holt's equaliser in front of the Kop summed up what he and this Norwich City vintage were all about.
The 'Little Norwich City' syndrome had been well and truly put to bed under Paul Lambert and their surge from League One to the Premier League.
Now the top-flight got to know all about it when Holt, chastened by the fact he started the game on the substitutes bench, bustled his way between Jamie Carragher and Glen Johnson to bravely bullet a header past Reina midway through the second half.
Norwich had fallen behind early on through Craig Bellamy's deflected strike but Holt's strike rescued a point despite late pressure, during which John Ruddy excelled.

It proved academic in terms of a result but Ryan Jarvis' superb left-footed strike was one of the highlights of City's 2004/05 Premier League campaign.
Second-half goals from Luis Garcia and John Arne Riise set the Reds on course for what looked like a routine victory. Enter Jarvis.
The Fakenham youngster arrived as a 78th-minute substitute for Damien Francis but the kind of moment every youngster dreams about happened with just a minute remaining.
Jarvis cut in from the right flank before unleashing a spectacular rising drive that gave Jerzy Dudek no chance. In all honesty that was as good as it got for Jarvis at Norwich although he did go on to have a successful career in the Football League and was one of the mainstays of King's Lynn's promotion campaign last season.

This was the last time the famous Kop was able to stand and was meant to be a day of celebration... but it didn't quite turn out that way.
Then Norwich City manager John Deehan requested the Reds shoot towards the Kop in the second half as they prefer to do.
However, it made little difference on the day as Liverpool couldn't find a way through after Jeremy Goss' wonderful volley in the first half had given City the lead.
Liverpool have perhaps had the last laugh... Norwich haven't won at Anfield since.

Jurgen Klopp
The German walks on water as far as Liverpool fans are concerned after leading the Reds to a sixth European Cup win and coming within a whisker of ending their title drought.
Klopp promised to turn doubters into believers upon his unveiling at the end of 2015 after the Brendan Rodgers era had stagnated.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss has delivered on that score whilst critics can no longer describe him as the 'nearly man' having lost six successive finals before Liverpool beat Tottenham in Madrid earlier this month.
Klopp has re-established Liverpool as one of Europe's leading sides. One of Sir Alex Ferguson's achievements as Manchester United manager was to 'knock Liverpool off their perch'.
Klopp has put them back there.
Last season
It couldn't have gone much better and yet they still ended up being second best to Manchester City.
Liverpool amassed an amazing 97 points, losing just one game all season, to Pep Guardiola's side at the start of the year.
Virgil van Dijk was arguably their player of the season although Mo Salah once again claimed the Golden Boot despite not hitting the heights of his debut season on Merseyside.
There must also be an honourable mention for Sadio Mane, who matched the Egyptian's goals haul of 22 in the Premier League.
New season
Liverpool are yet to make any new signings at the time of writing although the Reds are likely to replace Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno who departed this summer after running their contracts down.
Much will be expected of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and his thrust from the midfield will strengthen an area that perhaps lacked goals last season.
Rhian Brewster is expected to make the breakthrough although the young striker will have his work cut out to displace one of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah or Roberto Firmino.
With those three leading the line they will be expecting to push Manchester City close in the title race once again.
